Low traffic neighbourhoods are created by preventing through motor traffic from using minor residential roads. They reduce the overall amount of motor traffic (without increasing traffic on surrounding streets), and encourage people to walk and cycle more.
Last year we successfully petitioned for a low traffic neighbourhood in Headstone South. The council listened to us and is carrying out traffic counts, feasibility studies and resident workshops to develop a scheme.
In early 2020 we gathered a total of 199 signatures (on paper and online) and submitted the petition to West Harrow councillors on 29 April 2020. They will discuss it in the next Traffic and Road Safety Advisory Panel meeting.
